Where Flowers Meet Artistry

We've spent years perfecting the balance between traditional floristry techniques and contemporary creative expression. Our story began with a simple belief that everyone deserves to experience the therapeutic joy of working with fresh blooms.

From Engineering Precision to Floral Freedom

Dimitrije Vukovic never planned to become a floristry instructor. After spending eight years as a mechanical engineer in Belgrade, he found himself increasingly drawn to the local flower markets during his lunch breaks. What started as simple curiosity evolved into weekend workshops, then evening classes, and eventually a complete career transformation.

Moving to Baku in 2022 opened new possibilities. The city's growing appreciation for artisanal crafts and creative workshops created the perfect environment for Fokusfloe to flourish. Dimitrije brought his engineering mindset to floristry education—breaking down complex arrangements into manageable techniques while preserving the organic, intuitive aspects that make flower arranging so rewarding.

His approach combines structured learning with creative exploration. Students appreciate how he explains the 'why' behind each technique, making it easier to adapt arrangements to their personal style and available materials.

Teaching Philosophy & Expertise

We focus on building confidence through hands-on practice, starting with fundamental techniques before exploring personal creative expression.

Seasonal Design Principles

Understanding how to work with what's naturally available throughout the year. We teach students to recognize seasonal blooms, work with varying stem lengths and textures, and create arrangements that celebrate each season's unique character rather than fighting against it.

Color Theory in Practice

Moving beyond basic color wheels to understand how flowers interact differently than paint or fabric. Students learn to work with the natural variations in petals, leaves, and stems, creating harmonious compositions that feel intentional rather than accidental.

Sustainable Sourcing Methods

Building relationships with local growers and understanding the environmental impact of different flower choices. We discuss seasonal availability, transportation considerations, and how to extend the life of arrangements through proper care techniques.

Adaptive Technique Development

Teaching core skills that students can modify based on available materials, space constraints, or personal preferences. Rather than rigid rules, we focus on understanding principles that can be applied creatively in different situations.

What Drives Our Work

Our upcoming autumn 2025 workshop series reflects these core principles that have shaped our approach since opening. Each class is designed around practical skills that students can continue developing independently.

Patient Skill Building

We've learned that rushing through techniques creates frustration rather than competence. Each workshop allows ample time for practice, questions, and individual attention. Students often mention appreciating the relaxed pace that lets them actually absorb what they're learning rather than simply following along.

Realistic Resource Planning

Our workshops use flowers and materials that students can realistically source in Baku. We discuss where to find quality blooms locally, how to assess freshness, and alternative options when specific flowers aren't available. This practical approach helps students continue practicing after the workshop ends.

Individual Creative Development

While we teach fundamental techniques consistently, we encourage students to develop their personal aesthetic sense. Some prefer minimalist arrangements, others enjoy abundant, textured designs. Our role is providing the technical foundation that supports whatever creative direction feels authentic to each person.
